We first read about Hammer on Petfinder.com. Hammer has a sad
story. His mother (Bernie) had been burned in a house fire. And
with no where to take their dogs(a male and a female), the family
had to lock them in a car for awhile. This is how Hammer and his
brothers/sisters came into the picture, unbeknownst to the rest
of the world however. The woman who adopted Hammer's mother got
a surprise a few weeks later!! :) But, all of Hammer's brother/sister's
became service dogs, or went to loving homes. But poor Hammer
wasn't so lucky. Thankfully, the woman who adopted Hammer's mother
checked on the puppies to see that they were all being taken care
of. To her fright she saw that Hammer was barely being taken care
of at all, and was being mistreated. So she took him back in,
to find him another home. But already having too other dogs, her
home was not big enough. My family's home burnt down, one year
ago killing our three dogs Fritz, Wolfy and Sulley. (we love you
guys still!!!) They were my parents kids and my brothers. And
it still hurts to talk about them. So hearing Bernie's survival
from a house fire story, I knew I had to do what I could to get
Hammer. I called the number on Petfinder, and the woman told me
she had just dropped Hammer off at Happy Tails the day before.
So that weekend, I went met Hammer, and he has been part of the
family ever since. He was only at Happy Tails a few days, but
he has made a lifetime of difference in our home.
